The role of Commercial Finance within Cairn is to provide the financial forward look based on the latest decisions taken by senior leadership. The team is focused on providing data-based insights, challenging assumptions and providing the “what if” views. This materializes through our strategic plan, our scenario views and our risk and opportunity assessments. Curiosity, communication & collaboration are key characteristics of how the commercial finance team work across the business with everything rooted in a commercial mindset. Everything is centred on high quality information, and we are the gatekeepers to the one version of truth within the business.
The role:
We are delighted to share that we are currently recruiting for a commercial finance analyst. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, and will be responsible for:
- Evaluate project performance at Cairn sites – through preparation & analysis of project appraisals.
- Attend monthly project Commercial Review Meetings with project teams, on behalf of the Commercial Finance Team.
- Deliver analytics & financial outputs on topics such as cashflow, pricing & costs. This will inform the rolling forecast, budgeting & strategic planning process for Cairn.
- Be the business partner to the multiple teams within Cairn for example the Business Development, Planning, Commercial & Construction on all aspects of commercial finance data.
- Comfortable creating data-based insights, leveraging tools like Power BI
- Ad-hoc projects will be assigned which focus on continuous improvements e.g. how to work smarter not harder
The candidate:
- Qualified Financial Professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA Ireland) aligned with an Irish Accountancy body.
- Financial acumen - comfortable with distilling large amounts of data to provide key conclusions & insights.
- Ability to identify and understand the key drivers of business performance.
- A proven capability in building relationships.
- Advanced user of MS Excel, PowerPoint & Power BI
- Analytically minded, proactive approach to problem solving / process improvement, and an ability to execute tasks effectively and manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to quality and attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal skills (verbal and written) to communicate with peers, managers and Business Lead executives.
- Strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
