Cairn has a unique opportunity for a high calibre EHS Manager to join our Health & Safety Team. The role will be site-based in Dublin.
The core responsibility of this new role is to drive the overall strategic Environmental agenda and ensure the right level of oversight in place across our C22 sites.
The Environmental Manager will act as a key business lead to work within the Construction & Operations function. The role will report to the Senior EHS Manager, who in turn reports to the EHS Director.
Key Responsibilities:
The Environmental Manager will:
- Provide expert guidance and leadership to management and engaging with all staff across the organisation on construction environmental areas.
- Manage the delivery of specific programmes, projects, and initiatives to help achieve the targets and goals set out in our strategies
- Lead in a way that ensures regulatory compliance but also participates and influences the regulatory environment through participation.
- Drive a culture of best practice and continuous improvement in environment across the business and introduction of proactive measures to improve environmental performance on site.
- Manage both internal and external environmental resources.
- Engage with our supply chain and vendors relating to environmental and sustainability performance and improvement.
- Monitor, review and enhance our resources use on site namely reduction of waste reuse and recycling.
- Oversight and governance on our article 27 and 28 movements.
- Monitor and share guidance on emerging sustainability and environmental related legislation, policy and industry best practice and trends, advising on potential risks associated with emerging legislation and recommend solutions.
- Represent the Cairn on industry committees and other groups, and liaise with various representative bodies, membership organisation in relation to environment.
Requirements;
- Minimum 5-7 years in Environmental management or senior equivalent role.
- Bachelor’s Degree (environmental management/engineering or related degree is highly desirable).
- Detailed knowledge of implementation of Environmental Management Systems to ISO 14001 and implementation of same
- Awareness and experience of biodiversity, ecology and experience from a EcoW perspective.
- Detailed working knowledge of construction waste management legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret and develop management plans for noise, dust and vibration based on best practice and sensitive locations.
- Experienced and competent in regard to preservation and mitigation measures regarding SPA, SAC and nHA
- Awareness and experience of CSRD requirements and ESG responsibilities and able to suggest innovative measures to address same.
- Detailed knowledge of waste management and article 27 and 28 essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work as an independent self-starter and manage and prioritise multiple tasks and projects.
- High level of professionalism and confidence to work effectively with colleagues from all levels of the organisation, including senior leaders, project and site managers and our supply chain.
- Demonstrated success in driving solutions involving multiple stakeholders and layers of management, and multiple simultaneous deliverables.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards.
- Interaction with sustainability owners across Cairn as required.
