The Innovation & Digital Construction Graduate will play pivotal role in supporting the Innovation team in identifying, testing, roll-out and day-to-day management of technical products, design methodologies, digital construction tools and BIM process, aiming to increase efficiency of all segments of the project life cycle at Cairn.
This role exposes successful candidate to all parts of the investment process allowing to gain invaluable knowledge and experience, while contributing to process improvement. It allows graduate to develop a mixed blend of technical, project management and people skills, as well as ability to collaborate closely with various groups internally and externally.
This role is Central office based, however will require travel to sites from time to time, therefore a full drivers license and access to a vehicle will be required
Key responsibilities:
Digital Construction & BIM:
- Support implementation of Digital Construction Strategy across the business,
- Assist in selection, implementation, and management of digital construction tools and technologies supporting various pillars of the business in line with Cairn Innovation Framework (examples: drone surveying, generative design, construction progress tracking),
- Develop use cases for using digital tools outside of their intended purpose to maximise value added (thinking outside the box),
- Attend construction sites to support teams on the ground with digital tools,
- Investigate how digital tools can support construction, design, planning, cost and sales departments and prepare solutions to their problems,
- Manage in-house digital tools and troubleshoot as necessary,
- Provide training and support to team members on the use of digital tools and platforms,
- Support development of BIM models for our standardisation library (kit of parts),
- Support development of automated design workflows using Autodesk Revit and Dynamo/Python programming,
- Support development and roll-out of the BIM framework for low-density and high-density projects,
- Support projects with day-to-day BIM activities (models reviews, validation, clash detection),
- Support planning team in preparation of BIM models for 4D sequencing,
- Produce 4D sequencing models for apartment schemes
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Support testing of new construction products and solutions through direct engagement with internal teams and external vendors,
- Support internal Sustainability team in implementation of Sustainability Strategy across the business.
Design management:
- Support roll-out of Cairn standard design and support implementation where appropriate to ensure consistency and best practice,
- Support Pre-construction team to coordinate overall management of pre-construction design,
- Support development of Design Guidance Drawings and BIM Models to brief design teams.
Qualifications
- Degree / Higher Diploma qualification in Architectural Technology / Construction / Engineering / BIM or construction related discipline,
Technical Skills
- Technical understanding of design and construction of houses and apartments,
- Proficient in use of Autodesk Revit and Autodesk AutoCAD.
Soft skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Ability to work individually and as part of the team,
- Ability to prioritise workload, Ability to co-ordinate a number of different projects at the same time,
- Open-mindedness and practical, solution-focused approach to problems,
- Ability to develop ideas from inception stage to established process,
- Eagerness to try new things and ways of working.
- Willingness to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks.
Desirable experience
- Experience in architectural and/or MEP design,
- Experience in use of Autodesk Construction Cloud,
- Experience with scripting and programming in Python/Dynamo to automate BIM processes,
- Experience with Data Management and Analytics,
- Interest in emerging technologies, data, machine learning, generative design.
