The core responsibility of this new role is supporting the EHS Director and the EHS team in enhancing and driving the delivery of the Cairn processes, procedure and our Safety Strategy. The role will be responsible the continuous improvement of our safety management system and enhancing the safety culture of our employees and our supply chain through various initiatives. The role will also be a key support to their peers i.e. the operational Senior EHS Managers monitoring trends, areas of focus and development of relevant behavioural programmes. Key to the role is further driving improvement with our supply chain. The role will ensure we drive consistency around implementation of our safety practices across our c22 sites.

The role will report to the EHS Director.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for:

  • Supporting in driving a culture of best practice and continuous improvement in the area of safety management and behaviour across our sites and supply chain.
  • Providing expert guidance and leadership to the management and engaging with
  • all staff across the organisation on safety systems and initiatives matters.
  • Development and implementation of health and safety strategies that align with Cairn goals and strategies
  • Ongoing development and support of our safety strategy, safety management systems and associated processes.
  • Managing the delivery of specific programmes, projects and initiatives
  • Supporting the development of the EHS team, focusing on professional growth, technical competence and alignment with functional and Cairn goals
  • Driving improvement initiatives on our sites and with our supply chain partners
  • Engaging with relevant external bodies, stakeholders and peers to ensure that there is a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Oversight and governance of our annual audit programme
  • Leverage EHS systems and data to enhance oversight of safety metrics and reporting
  • Ownership of key reporting requirements to multiple stakeholders including  our Leadership Team and Board.
  • Monitor and share guidance on health and safety related legislation, policy and industry best practice and trends, advising on potential risks associated with emerging legislation and recommend solutions
  • Represent the Cairn on industry committees and other groups, and liaise with various representative bodies, membership organisations in relation to Health and Safety

Requirements;

  • Minimum 7 years in senior safety management role or senior equivalent role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma  (health and safety management/engineering or related degree is highly desirable, although not essential).
  • Experience of working in construction, utilities or similar industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of safety management systems to ISO 45001 and its implementation.
  • Experience of implementation of safety programmes across multiple sites and stakeholders
  • Experience of behavioural safety and change programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of safety reporting and presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Experience leading and delivering strategic change programmes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work as an independent self-starter and manage and prioritise multiple tasks and projects.
  • High level of professionalism and confidence to work effectively with colleagues from all levels of the organisation, including senior leaders, project and site managers and our supply chain.
  • Demonstrated success in driving solutions involving multiple stakeholders and layers of management, and multiple simultaneous deliverables.
