Commercial Executive - Procurement

Cairn has a unique opportunity for a high calibre Commercial Executive. The Commercial Executive will work within the Group Procurement function supporting with strategic and continuous improvement initiatives that will help maintain the overall momentum of the new procurement function:

Key responsibilities:

Typically the candidate will be expected to undertake and assist with the following duties:

  • Contracts and deal management.  Follow ups on status of agreements and opportunities under discussion and support senior procurement team members to bring them to a successful outcome.
  • Collaborate with supply chain partners and internal stakeholders to progress innovation projects and activities.
  • Strategic opportunities:  Desk research, intelligence gathering and relationship building regarding opportunities for international and domestic supply relationships or other opportunities.
  • Support senior procurement team members with adhoc, weekly and monthly reports and content creation
  • Support, track and report on sustainability initiatives being managed across the Group Procurement team, this will involve close collaboration with other functions.
  • General project management within the team and across strategic initiatives.  Includes developing project plans and reporting progress against same to senior procurement team members.
  • Support the continuous development of commodity price trackers and notification of risks and opportunities across the supply chain.
  • Support the management of inflation trackers and reports.
  • Additional tasks will be allocated to reflect increasing levels of development and experience.

The Candidate:

  • 3 years experience in a similar Commercial role
  • Previous Construction or business consultancy experience is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communicator who enjoys building new relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret commercial drivers, with a strong focus on delivering value
  • A pro-active problem solver
  • Project management experience of commercial or other workstreams
  • Demonstrate working on own initiate but also as part of a wider team
  • Excellent attention to detail & organisational skills
  • Previous experience implementing process improvements across a team
  • Strong reporting experience and comfort using a full suite of MS Office tools including Excel, Outlook etc. and track record of creating and delivering engaging and informative PowerPoint presentations
  • A curious mindset and strong commercial acumen.
