We are currently looking for a General Foreperson (Logistics & Lifting Operations) to join our team in Seven Mills. The Logistics & Lifting Operations General Foreperson will lead and coordinate all site logistics activities to ensure materials and plant are delivered, stored, and distributed efficiently to meet project requirements. This role is primarily focused on managing the flow of materials, controlling site access and traffic, organizing laydown areas, and ensuring the smooth operation of supply chains on a busy construction site. The position also involves overseeing lifting operations such as crane, teleporter and hoist activities; however, full training and certification in lifting operations can be provided for the right candidate. Strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential to ensuring safe, efficient, and timely project delivery. 

Key responsibilities 

Typically, the candidate will be expected to undertake and assist with the following duties:   

  • Management of Health and Safety on the project along with your colleagues, maintaining a secure and safe site through effective Health & Safety practises. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Understand target delivery programme, weekly reporting of same and active intervention to prevent delays.  
  • Attend and assist at daily whiteboard meetings.
  • Plan, organize, and control the flow of materials, plant and equipment to meet project timelines using our logistics software, site coordination, and attending various subcontractor coordination meetings.
  • Coordinate deliveries and site storage to minimize congestion and optimize workflow.
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials using our logistics software.
  • Waste management and housekeeping in logistics areas.
  • Set up, maintain, and manage site logistics, including vehicle & pedestrian routes, laydown areas, waste and recycling areas etc.
  • Liaise with the engineering team to ensure waste management records are available and accurate. 
  • Supervise and coordinate all lifting activities, including crane operations, hoists, teleporters, and other lifting equipment.
  • Review lifting plans and method statements in collaboration with lifting supervisors and engineers.
  • Verify crane and lifting equipment certifications and inspection records.
  • Conduct pre-lift briefings and toolbox talks to ensure safe execution.
  • Monitor lifting activities for compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Instil a best-in-class customer service and experience for all stakeholders and be a strong advocate for the Cairn brand.

The Candidate:

  • Trade, logistics, or lifting operation background preferable.
  • An ability to achieve demanding deadline and quality targets.
  • To have good spoken and written communication skills.
  • To be methodical, pay attention to detail and be accurate.
  • To be good at working with people at all levels and willing to work in a team.
  • To be self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative.
  • To be able to co-ordinate several different tasks at the same time.
  • To be willing to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks.
  • Certification as an appointed person/lifting supervisor beneficial but not essential (training will be provided).
  • Familiarity with relevant safety regulations.
